Week 7... Week 8

Week 7 is done, and now there is only one unbeaten player. With another HUGE win, though not by 59 points, LRobbins went to 6-0 and extended her already lengthy points lead. With the Cardinals win over the Giants, D10206156 took his first L of the season but remains ahead of SAW by one game who got a 42-6 victory out of the Colts. By being on BYE bfaries lost a half game to everyone in the New Castle Division as the Chargers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Steelers all got Cam2109, jharris, bharris, and Mark victories, respectively. In the most entertaining and interesting game of week 7 the New Orleans Saints battled back to beat the Dolphins 46-34. With a big win from the Patriots in London's Wembley Stadium, I got back on the right side of the W-L column and with the Vikings first loss of the season Kinger took a backseat to Jeff C. Finally, in another good but not great comeback, the 49ers gave Gridiron Guru a loss.

As it stands now, halfway through the season, the division leaders are Cam2109, LRobbins, Jeff C, and D10206156, and Fumble and jharris hold the two wildcard spots.

Week 8 is just a couple days away and has a few good matchups... including the Giants in Philadelphia, undefeated Broncos in Baltimore, the Vikings and Packers, and the Falcons and Saints... and one disaster waiting to happen, the battle for futility, the Rams in Detroit. Good luck this week everyone, but not too much.

Week 7 Preview

So week 7 is upon us. Hard to believe we've almost played two full months of Football, Halloween is just around the corner, and The Holiday Season will soon be here. Week 7 has at least one good matchup for us and several disasters waiting to happen. With my boys on BYE this week getting ready to play the undefeated Broncos next week I'll have to latch onto another team for a week. This week that team will be the team that just beat my Ravens, the Minnesota Vikings. In the game of the week for week 7 the undefeated Vikings travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. On the other side of the League, the Bills and Panthers faceoff, and in two disasters waiting to happen the Saints go to Miami and the Eagles travel down to DC.

Some other key matchups for this week include the Chargers and the Chiefs, the Cowboys and Falcons, Colts and Rams, Patriots and Bucs, Giants and Cardinals, and the Packers and Browns.

Remember... GET YOUR PICKS IN!!! Unless you don't want to. Good luck.

Week 6 Review

So Week 6 is over and so is the Tennessee Titans's season. Luckily no one picked the Titans to win last week. However there were a couple of people on the other side of the 59-0 Titans loss to the Patriots. LRobbins extended her division lead by a half game over Fumble, who was on BYE, with the Patriot win and SAW was helped immensely by the 59 point differential.

Like a dummy Jeff C picked the Redskins to beat the 0-5 Chiefs. He's no longer undefeated as the Redskins played their 6th straight winless team and lost their 4th game of the year sending them to 2-4 and Jeff C to 4-1. With that loss and the Texans 28-17 win over the Bengals, Kinger moved into the Sussex Division lead.

In the game of the week, what looked early to be a Viking blow out of the Ravens turned into quite an explosive game as with 10 minutes left in the game the Vikings went up 27-10. The Ravens proceeded to outscore Minnesota 21-6 in the final 10 minutes of the game and sat at the 27 yard line with a chance to win on 44yd field goal attempt by young kicker, Steven Hauschka. He pulled it left and the Ravens improbable comeback was not to be... Vikings 33, Ravens 31 in a hell of game... offensively.

With three BYE's in the New Castle Division and a Steeler win over the Browns, Cam2109 jumped a couple spots to second in the division and with a Chargers loss to the STILL surprisingly 6-0 Denver Broncos bfaries fell to the cellar of the New Castle Divison.

If not for the Redskins dreadful performance, the Panthers/Bucs game would have been the worst game of the week by far, with the Panthers lucking into a 28-21 win and Jay Dub moving to 3-1. Not a bad record, but still a full game and a half behind 5-0 division leader LRobbins and only 22 points out of the second wild card spot.

There's still far too much left to play before we start to talk about the Wild Card spots and the playoffs, but I can say with relative certainty that if you don't make your pick you won't make the playoffs. J.D. Gravatt failed to make his pick for the second week in a row. While that didn't harm in week 5 since he only had one team to chose that week and they lost he could have picked up huge points by picking the Patriots last week. Remember folks, you can't win if you don't pick and play.

Week 5 Results

Week 5 is in the books for the Frenzy and although there is still one game left to play tonight, the standings through 4 weeks of Frenzy play are set.

Week 4 began with 5 unbeatens and ends with only 3 remaining. With big wins from the Eagles (33-14), Vikings (38-10), and Giants (44-7), LRobbins, Jeff C, and D10206156 are still undefeated and lead their divisions. The 17-14 loss by the Ravens to the Bengals, who just plain outplayed the Ravens, gave Monica and bharris their first losses of the season.

In other games around the league The Steelers kept pace in the AFC North with a 28-20 win over the Lions, and the surprising Denver Broncos moved to 5-0 with an overtime win over the Patriots, 20-17. They remain one of 5 unbeatens in the NFL. The other four are the 5-0 Colts, who look completely dominant and almost unbeatable, 5-0 New York football Giants, 5-0 Vikings and the 4-0 Saints.

A preview of week 6 in the NFL will be coming shortly after tonight's Jet/Dolphins AFC East matchup.

Week 3 Review... A look ahead at Week 4

Week 3 of the Season is in the books and we've had our first BYE's of the season. Through two weeks of the Frenzy's season we have four undefeated players and all of them are leading their division. bharris picked up two wins with the Raven's win over San Diego in week 2, and the Cowboys win over the Panthers last week. Lrobbins with Indy's win over Miami and Philly's win over KC sits at 2-0. Jeff C, after picking the Redskins in week 2 and being scared to death, and getting a win out of New England over ATL last week also sits at 2-0 and D10206156 is also 2-0 with wins out of Indy over the Dolphins and the Giants shutout of the Bucs. Mark falls to 0-2 as the hapless Redskins gave the Lions their first win in 20 months... way to go 'Skinis!

Looking back at week 3, the Cowboys got their first win in the new 1+ Billion dollar stadium, The Eagles (behind Kevin Kolb) handled the Chiefs with ease, 34-14, and in one of the bigger surprises of the week, the Steelers managed to give away a game to the once-lowly-but-now-looking-like-a-contender-but-still-really-not Cincinatti Bengals on a last minute drive that ended in the end zone for the 23-20 win. Other scores include the Redskins losing to the Lions, 19-14, the Raven PASTING the possibly-worst-team-in-the-league Browns as they should have, 34-3, the Chargers over the Dolphins 23-13, the Patriots over the Falcons, 26-10, the Saints beat up the Bills, 27-7, the Texans lost to the Jags, and the Colts beat the Cards, 31-10.

Some of the biggest games of week 4 include the Ravens in New England, Green Bay in Minnesota, the Jets at New Orleans, and the Chargers at Pittsburgh. If the Ravens win the rest of the NFL will officially HAVE TO TAKE NOTICE (as if they haven't already). The new face of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers, takes his team into the Dome in Minnesota to face the Ghost of Packers' past Brett Favre. The Saints and the Jets are two surprising 3-0 teams and this game pits the most powerful scoring offense this year against the stingiest yardage defense this year. The 2-1 Cbargers will go into Pittsburgh Merriman-less and the Steelers, who are 1-2, are out for blood as their two losses came in the waning moments of those two games in which they led for most of the game.

The selection window is open until 1:00pm Sunday which means you have just over 75 hours to get your picks in. Good luck.

And now for some highlights from week 3 in the NFL:

something to consider for next year: person picks 2 of their 3 teams. the last team is randomly generated by the computer. September 22, 2008 9:32 PM

What do you guys think about keeping the rules the same as far as picking your three teams and each week picking one, but instead of JUST picking a team, you get scheduled against an opponent who is also in the game. The person whose team wins by the most(or loses by the least) gets the victory? September 25, 2008 12:05 PM

I might remove the BYE week and start the playoffs a week early. This would set up a two week opening round, a one week 2nd round, and a two week championship round... 5 weeks of playoffs altogether. This might aleviate some of the tiebreaker issues I'm trying to work around with the current playoff set up. December 22, 2008 11:12 AM
