A Champion is Crowned!!!

The 2008 3 Team Football Frenzy Championship goes to:

#5 Jeff Gravatt

Congratulations. He'll get to "keep" the trophy until next year, but more importantly he'll get to take home $120.00.

2nd place (the 1st loser) goes to the no. 2 seeded 5687 (Janet King). She'll get $60.00. I suppose next time when she goes 9-2 picking for herself all season she won't ask her husband (kinger 6-5) for advice in the championship.

3rd place, and $20.00, goes to #4 kerri78 (Kerri Lucke), and 4th place with no money to #6 Stephanie (Stephanie Vodvarka).

Congratulations to all of you who earned money, and thanks you everyone who played. I look forward to playing you all again next year. Enjoy your 2008 NFL Playoffs... without the Patriots, or the Cowboys, or Brett Favre.

Oh, yeah... How 'Bout Them Ravens!?!?!

Week 16 Plays of the Week

Question: What running back was the last player to score a touchdown in Dallas's Texas Stadium?

Answer: LeRon McClain, Baltimore Ravens;

Question: What two running backs tied and then set a new record for longest touchdown runs by an opponent in Dallas's Texas Stadium?

Answer: Willis McGahee (77yds) and LeRon McClain (82yds);

Suck it Cowboys, now blow up that POS Stadium before Jerry Jones goes into cardiac arrest.

Playoffs, Championship Round (Weeks 16 & 17)

At halftime of the championship round Jeff Gravatt leads 5687 by 24 points, 7-(-17). The Colts beat out the Jaguars in a come from behind, 31-24 victory giving Jeff his 7 pts. and the Steelers, in a battle for AFC supremacy, lost to the Titans, giving the Titans the #1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs and taking 17 pts. from 5687.

In the other games that mattered, the Patriots pasted what could be the worst playoff team in the history of the NFL (although the AFC West winner could have a decent argument in that one), the Arizona Cardinals, 47-7. That thumping, along with the Giants win in overtime by only 6 moves Stephanie into the final consolation round for a chance at third place and $20.00, 40-6 over Mark Wood. With my boys puttin' it to The 'Boys IN Dallas in what WILL be the last game played in Texas Stadium ever, 33-24, and the Colts win, kerri78 wins, 7-(-9) to go into the final consolation round up against Stephanie.

With one week left in the NFL regular season I want to take the time to thank all of you for playing and I hope you enjoyed playing and will join us again next season. Good luck in Week 17 to the four remaining players.

Playoffs, Round 2 (Week 15)

Round two of the playoffs is finished. In a bit of a shocker, the Bengals knocked off the Redskins for only their 2nd win of the season knocking Mark Wood out of championship contention. The 20-13 Bengals victory coupled with the 49-26 pounding the Raiders took from the Patriots propelled Jeff Gravatt into the championship round against 5687. 5687 squeaked into the championship on the strength of the officials ripping the game right out of the Ravens hands, and handing it to the Steelers.

You tell me where there was INDISPUTABLE evidence?!?

Actually if that game would have ended in a 9-6 Ravens win, 5687 would have made it in anyway, as The Jets held on to a 31-27 win over the Bills with a last minute fumble recovery for a TD. As it stands 5687 won 4-(-4) over andy73.

With the weeks games, the two week championship round sets up like this:
#5 Jeff Gravatt vs. #2 5687

And round 1 of the consolation bracket looks like this with the winners moving on to battle for 3rd and 4th places while the losers are out and only 3rd place will win money:
#6 Stephanie vs #1 Mark Wood
#3 andy73 vs. #4 kerri78, keeping it in the family

Good luck to you all on your picks for week 16.

Playoffs, Round 1 (Week 14)

Round 1 of the playoffs are done. Two take a step toward the championship and two get pushed down to the consolation bracket... Sorry Stephanie and kerri78.

Moving on is #5 Jeff Gravatt to face #1 Mark Wood and #3 andy73 to face #2 5687. The Colts pounded the Bengals (like they should have) 35-3 and the Patriots eeked out a 24-21 win, which gave andy73 the win, 32-3, over Stephanie. Jeff Gravatt moved on over kerri78 due to his regular season points differential advantage of 84-46. In the first round BYE games, #1 Mark Wood and #2 5687, the Giants got beat by the Eagles, and the Bears took care of business against the Jaguars.

Round 2 sets up like this:
#1 Mark Wood vs.
#5 Jeff Gravatt

#3 andy73 vs.
#2 5687

and in the consolation bracket its:
#6 Stephanie and #4 kerri78 who will both get a consolation BYE until the rest of that bracket can be filled out, but still need to make a pick in case a tiebreaker is needed.

Good luck everyone.

I think the winnings breakdown should be 50/30/20. September 22, 2008 9:21 PM

something to consider for next year: person picks 2 of their 3 teams. the last team is randomly generated by the computer. September 22, 2008 9:32 PM

What do you guys think about keeping the rules the same as far as picking your three teams and each week picking one, but instead of JUST picking a team, you get scheduled against an opponent who is also in the game. The person whose team wins by the most(or loses by the least) gets the victory? September 25, 2008 12:05 PM

I might remove the BYE week and start the playoffs a week early. This would set up a two week opening round, a one week 2nd round, and a two week championship round... 5 weeks of playoffs altogether. This might aleviate some of the tiebreaker issues I'm trying to work around with the current playoff set up. December 22, 2008 11:12 AM
