Week 13 Results

The necessary results for Week 13 are in and the playoff bracket is full.

The Ravens pounded on the Bengals to the tune of 450+ yds, another pick-6, and 34 points to ensure andy73 of his place in the playoffs as a #3 seed. Other division clinchers included the Colts zero-offensive-TD 10-6 win coupled with the Chargers loss to the Falcons which gave the Kent Division to kerri78 as a #4 seed, and the New York Football Giants win clinched the Sussex Division for Mark as the #1 seed thanks to the Jets getting beat by the Broncos who just last week got beat by the Raiders. The Colts win along with the Chargers loss pushed Stephanie into the playoffs as the #6 seed.

So the playoff pairings look like this:
#1 Mark and #2 5687 get first round BYES but still need to make a pick for week 14 just incase those scores are needed for tiebreaking in round 2 or later.

#3 andy73 takes on #6 Stephanie in round one (week 14) and,
#4 kerri78 takes on #5 Jeff Gravatt in round one (week 14).

You can get on and make your picks for week 14 if you want even though the selection window won't OFFICIALLY open until midnight tomorrow night. The only thing that happens, though, is you will get a message that pops up and says the selection window for WEEK 13 is now closed... that has no effect on your pick for week 14. Good luck to those who made it into the playoffs, and thanks to everyone for playing. I look forward to having you all again next year if you wish. If you haven't already please take the time to fill out the short, 5 question, survey that pops up when you log onto the site. Thanks again.

NOTE: The site won't allow you to pick a team you're not allowed to pick. The playoffs refresh team picks. As is stated in the rules, you CAN pick the same team in week 14 as you did in week 13, but once into the playoffs you can not pick the same team two weeks in a row. Also, make sure to read up on the tiebreakers for the playoffs. The first tiebreaker is total playoff scoring and the second is playoff scoring added to regular season points differential. So, if in the first round you pick the same team as the person you are playing, the tiebreak will go to whomever has the higher regular season points differential since in round one, everything else will be the same.

Playoff Scenarios

In the interest of objectivity, I have decided to do away with the playoff scenarios posted at the bottom of each divisions' standings. Anyone who wants to know what it will take to get into the playoffs will have to figure it out on their own. Good luck.

Interesting Tidbits

Strange how things work out sometimes. In this my third season of running the 3 Team Football Frenzy I decided to check on division parity... not between players, but between the divisions as a whole. My findings are nothig extravagant, just a litte bit interesting.

As of Week 12, all three divisions are fairly even. The overall total records for each division are as follows:

DivisionRecordWin Pct.GBPts Dif
Sussex33-17.660--+217
New Castle31-17-2.627-1+183
Delaware31-19.620-2+214
Kent31-19.620-2+207

I think it's pretty interesting how it breaks down.
Just sayin'.

Week 12 Results

Week 12 is over and the scores are in. The playoff picture is still fuzzy, but slowly clearing up as three spots are now taken, leaving only 3.

We'll start there; 5687 who clinched the Delaware Division last week won again. As expected the Bears took care of business versus the hapless Rams, 27-3. That coupled with the 3 point win the Redskins eeked out over Seattle moved 5687 back into the #1 seed over Mark Wood by 3 points... for now. With wins by both the 'Skins and the Bucs, Mark Wood and Jeff Gravatt have become the two newbies to the playoff scene, respectively, while continuing to battle it out for the Sussex Division. They've battled it out all season, but Mark Wood's point differential gives him a huge edge. In order to lose the division crown, Mark Wood will have to lose while Jeff Gravatt wins, or win by 80 points less than Jeff Gravatt, or lose by 80 points more than Jeff Gravatt.

The Cowboys have helped 6 individual players hang on to their playoff hopes while dashing the hopes of one. Andy73, Monica, kerri78, cameron21, Stephanie, and wissinger are still in the hunt thanks to the Cowboys 35-22 victory over the Niners. That game, however, eliminated Eric from playoff contention. Eric along with 5 others found themselves pushed out of contention. Even though the Colts won23-20 over the Chargers on Sunday Night Football, Pirates was still eliminated from a chance at the playoffs, as well as a win by the Bears couldn't help TriciaH, and a Patriot win over Dolphins, 48-28, didn't help Joey Gravatt; It did, however, keep Jeff C.'s dim playoff hopes alive. A loss by the Broncos... scratch that... a drubbing of the Broncos by the Raiders, 31-10 (IN DENVER!!!) helped kinger. It helped kinger march his way out of the playoffs. The Steelers 27-10 victory on Thursday night, coupled with the Cowboys win, kept the Kent Division deadlocked, with jwark slightly extending his points differential lead over kerri78. Staying in the Kent Division, the Saints helped dayzd toe's playoff hopes with a big 51-29 win over the Packers in New Orleans.

A couple of other notable games in the NFL: Brett Favre, Brett Favre, Brett Favre!!! That's all we're going hear from here on out as he, Thomas Jones, and Leon Washington ROLLED over the no longer undefeated Titans in Nashville. If you had any reservations that the Giants are the best team in football this year, that, along with the way the Giants' three-headed rushing monster ran all over the Ravens' no. 1 ranked rushing defense last week, should extinguish those thoughts. The Eagles just plain suck. A TIE last week in Cincinatti and this week they just got DEMOLISHED by the Ravens. McNabb was benched after the first half in favor of second year "Rookie" Kolb, for performance issues. What issues, you may ask... Well 2 picks and a lost fumble will get you benched pretty quickly in the NFL. Of course, Kolb didn't fair much better against an ANGRY Ravens' D. He was intercepted two times with one of them from the 2 inch line being run back from 8 yards deep in the endzone for a new NFL record 108 yd pick-6. The Eagles bent over and took it, 36-7 from my boys. Perhaps the biggest surprise, though, is the victory the Raiders put on the Broncos, as I mentioned earlier, IN DENVER.

So now, with one week left there are 10 players still alive and only three playoff spots open. The playoff clinching scenarios are posted with any scenario that maybe determined by points differential (example, jwark and kerri78 both win) not broken down.

Week 11 Results

Week 11 is over. With the first 11-10 final in NFL history (almost 13,000 games) 5687 has clinched the Delaware Division as the Steelers beat the Chargers on a snowy night. In other strange-but-true news the Eagles and Bengals scored 13 points each to end with a tie. What I'm not sure about is... is it stranger that the Eagles, of the big bad NFC East, couldn't dispose of the 1-8 Bengals, that the game actually ended in a tie, or that the on-field leader of the Eagles offense didn't know that a regular season NFL game COULD end in a tie? That's right, he thought he would go into a second overtime and get the chance to win the game. Wow. Just wow.
(Regarding the tie- This is the first tie in the history of the 3 Team Frenzy. As you probably noticed, there was no column for ties. In an effort to get the most accurate scoring up in the most expeditious manner, I made a tie worth half of a win and half of a loss. If you signed on last night after the Eagles game or this morning before lunch you noticed the 6.5-3.5 and 4.5-4.5 records posted by LRobbins and pirates respectively. Those represented the tie since both players picked the Eagles. At lunch time that changed. I added a "T" column representing ties. Now their records read 6-3-1 and 4-4-1. The Win % is still calculated in accordance with the NFL, where, for win% purposes, a tie counts as half of a win and half of a loss hence 6-3-1=6.5 wins out 10 total games, or a win % of .650.)

The Colts pushed andy73 closer to a division title with their 33-27 win over Texans and kerri78 won her 4th in a row to close in on the Kent Division leader, while Monica was able keep pace with a Panthers 31-22 win over the now 0-10 Detroit Lions. I just don't see a win in the Lions future this season. Tampa, Tennessee, Minnesota, Indianapolis, and New Orleans... that's their remaining schedule. If you see a win in there let me know. Although he's been eliminated from a chance at the New Castle Division, Eric continues to cling to his playoff hopes as the Broncos pulled out victory over the Falcons, 24-20. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning over the Vikings, jwark has opened the door to the Kent Division, and now there are 2 standing tied at 6-3 with jwark holding the edge in points differential. Thanks to the Bills losing I am not part of that deadlocked Kent Division. With that Steelers win that I talked about earlier, cameron21 has won his third straight and is still holding on to hope for a wild card spot. The Giants 30-10 drubbing of my Ravens, coupled with the one point win by the Steelers, moved Mark Wood back into the top seed over 5687, and Jeff Gravatt kept pace with the Colts win. And playing for pride, aj9696 got his 3rd win in a row, although it's much too little, much too late.

As I mentioned before 5687 has clinched her division and, hence, a playoff berth... the first of the year. Only 5 remain and it's looking like 2 will go to Mark Wood and Jeff Gravatt as they only need to win one of their remaining two to get in, leaving three; which are all wide open.

With a win, and a loss by Monica, andy73 can clinch New Castle Division. That's only division clinching scenario available next week, but the rest of the playoff scenarios are up on the standings page.

Week 12 is open for picks and Pittsburgh takes on Cincinatti starting Thursday at 8:15 so make sure your picks are in by then. Good luck everyone.

Week 10 Results

Week 10 is finito and the playoff picture has gone from a snowy, fuzzy, barely there to a pixelated mess. But it IS coming into focus... slowly.

The Ravens went into Houston and won their 4th straight, 3 of which were on the road, and are now tied for the AFC North Division lead after the Colts took care of business against the Steelers. Those victories kept andy73 in the lead in the New Castle Division by a half game over LRobbins who's won 3 straight her self. The Chargers eeked out a victory at home against the Chiefs, 20-19, helping Monica keep pace in that division, and Eric is holding on to his slight playoff hopes with a victory by the Patriots. The Saints have now helped my losing streak reach 3 by not really showing up in Atlanta, and now its going to be a tough climb for me to get to the playoffs. The Jags helped Mark Wood keep his division lead, however even though he's tied for the best record in the league, he has lost the #1 seed this week with the pounding the Jets put on the POS Rams. With that 47-3 victory 5687 has moved to no. 1, based on points differential, by one point. The Broncos come from behind win in Cleveland helped kinger stay in the race... at least for another week.

On to the playoff picture-aj9696 has officially been eliminated from playoff contention. Even with a win, it wasn't in his control, as andy73, LRobbins, and jwark got wins to seal his fate. As for next week, several players find themselves on the cusp; Pirates, Eric, cameron21, TriciaH, kinger, Stephanie, Jeff C., nik98, wissinger, and Joey Gravatt are those most immediately going to be effected for the playoffs.

Week 11 is now available for picks. Again, football starts at 8:00 Thursday, so get your picks in by then. If you don't, you'll take a loss with points being recorded and as you can see 1 pt can mean the difference between a first round bye and not. Good luck everyone.

Week 9 Results

Week 9 is over; the results are in. The Eagles take out the Seahawks, 26-7, to help LRobbins move up in the standings. The Cowboys suck now as they were beaten so badly TO didn't even have anything to say about the game... 35-14, Giants, to keep Mark atop the Sussex Division and help him keep the #1 seed as it stands right now. The Broncos are having some trouble right now, as they lost their 3rd straight handing the Dolphins their 4th win this season. The Bears kept the Detroit Lions winless with a come-from-behind win, 27-23. The Buccaneers also had to come from behind to win in overtime against the 1-7 Chiefs. The Vikings come out winners, the Colts beat the Patriots, and the Steelers put away the Redskins rather handily to maintain their 1 game lead in the AFC North on my boys.

In other news, the Ravens scored 24 unanswered points to come from a 27-13 deficit and beat the Browns 37-27. Yeah Purple and Black! Also, in other news, the Bengals finally got off the Bagel Train and picked up their first victory, beating the Jaguars.

On to week 10... Week 10 is a short week. Games start on Thursday at 8:00pm, so you only have a couple of days to get your picks in. And this late in the season forgetting a pick could be the difference between playing in week 14 and missing the playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, there are MORE playoff implications this week as the playoff picture is beginning to take shape. 5687 can wrap up the Delaware Division this week, and a couple of people can be eliminated from the playoffs altogether. The details can be found on the standings page below each divisions' standings.

You have about 68 hours to get your pick in for week 10. Good luck this week everyone.

What do you guys think about keeping the rules the same as far as picking your three teams and each week picking one, but instead of JUST picking a team, you get scheduled against an opponent who is also in the game. The person whose team wins by the most(or loses by the least) gets the victory? September 25, 2008 12:05 PM

I might remove the BYE week and start the playoffs a week early. This would set up a two week opening round, a one week 2nd round, and a two week championship round... 5 weeks of playoffs altogether. This might aleviate some of the tiebreaker issues I'm trying to work around with the current playoff set up. December 22, 2008 11:12 AM
