Week 8 Results
Week 8 is complete and with a win, aj9696 is still in contention. Winners include the Cowboys over the Bucs, the Panthers over the Cardinals in come-from-behind fashion, the Seahawks pounding the Niners, and the Chargers losing to Drew Brees and the Saints in London. In addition, the Bills got beat by the Dolphins who stand at 3-4, only 2 games out of their division. The Redskins won. It may not have been pretty but they DID win. The Patriots put the Rams back in their place after they beat the Redskins and Cowboys in consecutive weeks. The Jets eeked out a winner on a last minute TD catch by Laverneus Coles to send the Chiefs to 1-6, and my boys told the Raiders where to go... Ravens 29, Raiders 10.
In other games, the Bungles just plain suck, 0-7 now, after giving up 35 points to the Texans, and only scoring 6 themselves and the Giants/Steelers game was a good one, with the Giants coming out on top, 21-14.
Week 9 is upon us and the playoff picture, although still very fuzzy, is starting to show SOME details... If Mark Wood or Jeff Gravatt win, aj9696 will be eliminated from any chance to win the Sussex division, leaving the wild card as his only possible chance at the playoffs. In the Delaware division, if Joey Gravatt loses he will be eliminated from contention at the division, leaving the wild card as his only path to the playoffs.
The week 9 selection window is open and you have until 11/2 at 1:00pm to make your selection for the week. BYE's this week go to andy73, jwark, dayzd toe, kerri78, aj9696, and 5687. Good luck this week to everyone.

Hit of The Week... Week 7
This one comes not from the NFL but from the South Carolina Gamecocks and the LSU Tigers.
That's right. You saw it right! The ref just threw a shoulder into the South Carolina QB. That just ain't right!

Week 7 Results
The games are over and the results are in. We're halfway through the season now with no unbeatens and there are playoff implications on the horizon, but I'll get to that later.
The Rams, who upset the Redskins last week, pulled off a HUGE upset this week. They beat the Cowboys (STUPID COWBOYS!!!) 34-14 and are surprisingly in second place only 2 games out of the weak NFC West. On a Madden-less (for the first time in like 476 weeks, some 28 years or something) Sunday Night Football the Bucs dispatched of the preseason NFC West favorite Seahawks, who fell to 1-5, 20-10. With the Rams game and the 38-10 thrashing the 0-7 Bengals took from the Steelers there was a bit of a shake up in the standings. I went from unbeaten to second in my division with the division being taken over by jwark by 10 points.
Other games included the Ravens getting the W over the Dolphins, 27-13 (so much for the Wildcat offense, huh), the Colts, who gave the Ravens a beatdown last week, took it themselves this week, 14-34, and the Giants moved to 5-1 with a 29-17 win over the Niners. The Jets got beat by the Raiders in OT, 16-13, the Chargers got beat by the Bills, 23-14, and the Saints did NOT help aj9696 get off the schneid as they got trounced, 30-7. The Patriots gave the Broncos the What-For on MNF, 41-7, and that helped kerri78 to move up in the standings.
With that Saints game aj9696 moves into a position to be eliminated from playoff contention next week... and become the first casualty of the 2008 football season. If aj9696 loses and andy73, Mark Wood, and Jeff Gravatt all win, aj9696 will be eliminated based on record. Good luck getting that first W next week aj.
The selection window for week 8 is now open and will remain open until Sunday October 26 at 1:00pm. If you haven't made a pick and aren't on BYE or if you want to change your pick you have until then to get it in for week 8. You can look to the frame on the right to see who has made a pick, who hasn't, and who is on BYE this week. Good luck to you all, but especially aj9696 and Joey Gravatt as you guys are still looking for your first win.

Week 6 Results
There's still one more game to go this week, but who is it again? Oh yeah, the Giants and the Browns. Nobody in this league cares about this game. So on to the results.
In somewhat of an upset the Cowboys got beat by the Cardinals. Maybe the Cowboys aren't quite the juggernaut most thought they were. The Eagles left SF 40-26 winners over the Niners. The Colts POUNDED the Ravens. I guess that's what 5 turnovers on the road in Indy will do for you... 31-3. The Saints were big winners, 34-3, leaving yours truly as the only remaining unbeaten. That's right. I said the ONLY REMAINING UNBEATEN. And that leads me to the UPSET OF THE WEEK... With the way the Redskins have been playing and the way the Rams have been playing, this game was a total gimme... a no brainer!!! I mean the 'Skins were double digit favorites for crying out loud. Not so, as the RAMS went into DC and picked up their first victory of the year, 19-17. The Vikings won, the Jets won, and the Broncos, Patriots, and Seahawks lost.
Starting Tuesday, the selection window for week 7 will be open. You'll have until Sunday the 19th at 1:00pm to get your picks in. Good luck to everyone, but especially to aj9696 and Joey Gravatt. Nobody likes to be winless.

Hit of The Week... Week 5
The Saints Jo-Lonn Dunbar puts a hell of block on the Vikings EJ Henderson to spring Reggie Bush's FIRST punt return for a TD.

Week 5 Results...
That was a hell of block that just sprang Reggie Bush for a 71 yard punt return for a touchdown. The Saints are back in it after outgaining the Vikings all night. Damn... again Reggie Bush. But this time he tripped and Kornheiser says "he's too quick for himself."
Week 5 is done. There are now only two unbeatens remaining... and Mark Wood seems to be running away from the rest of his division, at least points wise. The Giants helped his cause big time with a 44-6 drubbing of the Seahawks. I, as the other unbeaten, am just plugging away, a few points here, a few points there. On the other end of the spectrum there are only 2 winless players. Some tough breaks aj9696 and Joey Gravatt. Certainly you'd have thought the Colts would have beaten the Jaguars at home earlier this year.
On to the rest of the results... the Panthers put it to the Chiefs as expected, helping Monica's cause. The Colts, unfortunately, battled back against the Texans who were making their first home start of the season thanks to Hurricane Ike. Houston was up 27-10 late in the third quarter when Sage Rosenfels quite literally handed the Colts the game. Who, you ask. That's right. A dude name Sage. Enough said. The Patriots left the City By The Bay winners and the Redskins scalped the Eagles after being down by 14 points, 23-17. It would appear that the Redskins are the real deal this year as they now stand at 4-1 and have beaten all but one team in the toughest divsion in football, the NFC East. I officially take back all the fun I poked at Jeff C. and Mark Wood when they made those homer picks. The Cowboys pushed the Bengals further down into the depths of the AFC at 0-5, although they didn't make it look as easy as it should have been. The Bears, in what the "experts" were calling a trap game, kicked the Lions 34-7. The Ravens got beat, 13-10 at home by a, now, 5-0 Titan team but I won't get into the phantom unecessary roughness call after the false start that should have blown the play dead. The bottom line is if you only score 10 points at home, you deserve to lose.
The surprise of the week: Same team who upset the Patriots two weeks ago, did it to the Chargers this week. That's right! The Miami Dolphins are on a win streak as they beat San Diego 17-10. Is it really a streak if its only two, though?
On to next week... Week 6 that is. Game of the Week this week is Baltimore at Indy. You have until the 12th at 1:00pm to get your pick in. Good luck everyone.
OS- Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays for advancing to the ALCS, and LET'S GO ANGELS. There's nothing I'd like to see more than the Red Sox knocked out of the playoffs (besides the Orioles in the playoffs).

something to consider for next year: person picks 2 of their 3 teams. the last team is randomly generated by the computer. September 22, 2008 9:32 PM

What do you guys think about keeping the rules the same as far as picking your three teams and each week picking one, but instead of JUST picking a team, you get scheduled against an opponent who is also in the game. The person whose team wins by the most(or loses by the least) gets the victory? September 25, 2008 12:05 PM

I might remove the BYE week and start the playoffs a week early. This would set up a two week opening round, a one week 2nd round, and a two week championship round... 5 weeks of playoffs altogether. This might aleviate some of the tiebreaker issues I'm trying to work around with the current playoff set up. December 22, 2008 11:12 AM
