Week 16

We're at half time of the Frenzy championship and Cam2109 leads LRobbins (-6) to (-14). And in the final round of the consolation bracket, where 3rd place is up for grabs, we have a rematch from round 1... #6 Jay Dub, who got a huge 41-9 win from the Panthers to beat Monica's 42-17 Chargers win, 32-25, will take on Jeff C., whose Patriots 35-7 win beat Gridiron Guru's Niners' 20-6 win, 28-14. That knocked out #5 Monica and #4 Gridiron Guru.

The second half of the championship and the final round of consolation play begin Sunday at 1:00pm. There's no Thursday, Friday, or Saturday football this week so you have until games begin Sunday to get your picks in. Good luck to those still vying for money.

Playoffs, Round 1 --> Round 2

Week 14 of the NFL Regular season is over and so we move on to Round 2 of the playoffs. Round 1 saw the Steelers lose to the Browns and the Patriots beat the Panthers giving Jeff C the edge over Jay Dub, 10-(-7). The Chargers outlasted the Cowboys and the Ravens treated the Lions like they were supposed to and gave them a 48-3 beat down moving Monica into the second round with a 45-3 victory over Gridiron Guru. So Round 2 sets up like this; the lower #5 seeded Monica goes on to face #1 seeded LRobbins coming off of her first round BYE, and #3 Jeff C moves ahead to take on #2 Cam2109, also coming off of a first round BYE.

#6 Jay Dub and #4 Gridiron Guru fall down to the consolation bracket, for the last earning placement, and get a second round BYE as they will wait for the rest of the consolation bracket to be filled. They may make a pick for this week but don't have to, as this pick will only be used in the event of a tie in week 16.

Not only do we have Thursday Night Football this week (so get your picks in by Thursday at 8:20 pm), the Colts at the Jags, but we also have Saturday Night Football as the Cowboys go to New Orleans. 4 nights of football this week... life is grand.

Good luck to you all.

Week 14... THE PLAYOFFS (Overview)

The playoffs are here... Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season. The final regular season standings are in and the playoff seedings are set. Round One BYE's go to:

#1 LRobbins (9-2)
#2 Cam2109 (9-2)

These players will get a first round BYE which means that they aren't playing in round 1. However, they should still make a pick in round one as the first tiebreaker in the playoffs is total playoff scoring.

The first round matchups look like this:
#3 Jeff C (9-2)
vs
#6 Jay Dub (9-2)

#4 Gridiron Guru (9-2)
vs
#5 Monica (9-2)

Playoffs wins are scored by the points differential of the team a player picked. If player A's chosen team loses by 10 points and Player B's losses by 14 points Player A get the win and moves on to round two. Whichever player wins by more or loses by less advances to the next round. For more detailed rules you can click on the rules links at the top of this page or go to the rules section on the Home menu.

Remember, the first game of the week is Thursday at 8:20 so if you are going to make a pick you must have it in by then. If you chose not to make a pick, you will not automatically receive a loss, your win/loss will be based solely on what your opponent's team does.

Due to the playoffs tiebreaking procedures picks for round one will not be posted until the selection window is closed. If you make a pick make sure to check your email for the confirmation notice. If you didn't get one, make your pick again. If you continue to to not get a confirmation you may email me or use the contact me link on the Home menu.

Good luck to everyone who can still win some money.

Regular Season Finale

It came down to the wire and in the last week of the Frenzy regular season there were some shifts in the playoff picture. The top four spots kept their playoff berths, but Jeff C. fell from the #2 seed to the #3 seed, with Cam2109 taking over #2. Although the Patriots lost, LRobbins maintains #1 as the Pats only lost by 1 and no one was able to make up the points differential. Gridiron Guru hung in there to take keep the #4 seed. A Saints victory, coupled with a Steelers loss and a Panthers win, but not by enough to overtake Monica, Monica keeps the 5th spot and Jay Dub knocks Fumble of the playoffs by 5 points and just misses the 5th spot by 3 points.

There still one more game to be played this week, but it will have no bearing on the Frenzy playoffs. It's just for a double shot of pride for me, as my boys take on the Packers in Lambeau. Congrats to those who've made it the next life, and good luck. For those of us who didn't... I hope to see you next year and better luck then.

A playoff overview will be coming soon, with the seedings and quick glance at playoff scoring.

Goodbye Week 12, Hello Week 13

Week 12 is complete and the playoff picture is still fuzzy with only one week left in the Frenzy regular season. After 10 weeks we have our first playoff clincher. With a Vikings win Jeff C. clinched the Sussex Division and will be at worst a 4 seed in the playoffs. Currently he is the 2 seed.

After this week with wins from Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Atlanta and losses from Washington, Pittsburgh, and the New York Giants half the league is officially eliminated from playoff contention. The remaining 9 are still in it and anyone could talk any seed as it staands right now. It would take a combination of a big loss by LRobbins and a big win by someone below her to knock her from the #1 seed but stranger things have happened.

With the 29 point Charger win, Monica over took Fumble for the first Wild Card spot and Monica has come on strong with the current longest winning streak at 6 games.

Jay Dub continues to find himself on the outside looking in, but only by 8 points, and SAW and bharris need a little more help to make their ways into the playoffs.

Week 13, the final regular season Frenzy week, will start early, with a big divisional game starting Thursday at 8:20 between the Jets and the Bills. You need to have your picks in by the time that game starts... Them's the rules.

Good luck to those who are still in it... and to those that still have enough pride to get one last win.

something to consider for next year: person picks 2 of their 3 teams. the last team is randomly generated by the computer. September 22, 2008 9:32 PM

What do you guys think about keeping the rules the same as far as picking your three teams and each week picking one, but instead of JUST picking a team, you get scheduled against an opponent who is also in the game. The person whose team wins by the most(or loses by the least) gets the victory? September 25, 2008 12:05 PM

I might remove the BYE week and start the playoffs a week early. This would set up a two week opening round, a one week 2nd round, and a two week championship round... 5 weeks of playoffs altogether. This might aleviate some of the tiebreaker issues I'm trying to work around with the current playoff set up. December 22, 2008 11:12 AM
