Playoffs, Round 1 --> Round 2

Week 14 of the NFL Regular season is over and so we move on to Round 2 of the playoffs. Round 1 saw the Steelers lose to the Browns and the Patriots beat the Panthers giving Jeff C the edge over Jay Dub, 10-(-7). The Chargers outlasted the Cowboys and the Ravens treated the Lions like they were supposed to and gave them a 48-3 beat down moving Monica into the second round with a 45-3 victory over Gridiron Guru. So Round 2 sets up like this; the lower #5 seeded Monica goes on to face #1 seeded LRobbins coming off of her first round BYE, and #3 Jeff C moves ahead to take on #2 Cam2109, also coming off of a first round BYE.

#6 Jay Dub and #4 Gridiron Guru fall down to the consolation bracket, for the last earning placement, and get a second round BYE as they will wait for the rest of the consolation bracket to be filled. They may make a pick for this week but don't have to, as this pick will only be used in the event of a tie in week 16.

Not only do we have Thursday Night Football this week (so get your picks in by Thursday at 8:20 pm), the Colts at the Jags, but we also have Saturday Night Football as the Cowboys go to New Orleans. 4 nights of football this week... life is grand.

Good luck to you all.

something to consider for next year: person picks 2 of their 3 teams. the last team is randomly generated by the computer. September 22, 2008 9:32 PM

What do you guys think about keeping the rules the same as far as picking your three teams and each week picking one, but instead of JUST picking a team, you get scheduled against an opponent who is also in the game. The person whose team wins by the most(or loses by the least) gets the victory? September 25, 2008 12:05 PM

I might remove the BYE week and start the playoffs a week early. This would set up a two week opening round, a one week 2nd round, and a two week championship round... 5 weeks of playoffs altogether. This might aleviate some of the tiebreaker issues I'm trying to work around with the current playoff set up. December 22, 2008 11:12 AM
